"See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of My Father who is in heaven."

— Matthew 18:10

What Does Scripture Say?

The Bible speaks clearly about angelic guardians:

  • Psalm 91:11: "For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways."
  • Matthew 18:10: "See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of My Father."

What Does the Church Teach?

The Catechism states: "From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their (angels') watchful care and intercession. Believing in angels is thus a truth of faith" (CCC 336).

Guardian angels:

  • Are assigned by God to protect each person
  • Are with us from the moment of our birth
  • Present our prayers to God
  • Protect us from spiritual and physical dangers
  • Will accompany us to eternity if we remain faithful

Your Guardian Angel's Role

Your guardian angel helps you:

  • Avoid danger and temptation
  • Make good decisions
  • Grow in virtue
  • Find your way to God
  • Pray effectively

Prayers to Your Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel Prayer: "O holy angel of God, my guardian dear, by God's command I reverently invoke you. Watch over me this day (night). Keep my heart innocent of every sin. Obtain for me the grace to be holy. Guide my every action. Defend me from the devil's snares. Amen."

Angel of God Prayer: "Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day (night) be at my side, to rule and guard me in God's way. Amen."

  1. 1Acknowledge their presence — Remember they're always with you
  2. 2Speak to them — A quick "Thank you, Guardian Angel" throughout the day
  3. 3Ask for help — In temptation or danger, call on them immediately
