How does virtual candle lighting work?
When you light a candle on CandleFaith, you create a digital prayer intention that joins our global prayer wall. Your intention is displayed as a beautiful animated candle that remains lit for others to see and pray for. It's a symbolic act of faith that connects your prayer with a worldwide community of believers.
Is my prayer intention visible to others?
Yes, when you light a candle, your prayer intention is displayed on our community prayer wall. However, you can choose how much detail to share. You may simply light a candle for general intentions, or share a more specific prayer request. We believe in the power of communal prayer, so sharing intentions allows others to pray specifically for your needs.
How can I pray for someone else's candle?
Visit our Prayer Wall at /candles to see all active candle intentions. You can click on any candle to read the intention and pray for that person. You can also "celebrate" candles to show your support and solidarity. When you light your own candle, others will pray for you in return.
Is CandleFaith free to use?
Yes, CandleFaith is completely free to use. Our mission is to provide a welcoming digital sanctuary for all who seek God's presence in prayer. We offer optional support options for those who feel called to help sustain this ministry, but there is never any obligation.
How do I light a candle for someone else?
To light a candle for someone else, visit our Light a Candle page at /candles/light. You can enter your own name or the name of the person you're praying for, choose an intention category (healing, peace, gratitude, etc.), and write a personal message. Your candle will then appear on our prayer wall.
What are the mysteries of the Rosary?
The Rosary meditations on four sets of mysteries: Joyful (Monday & Saturday, Sunday), Sorrowful (Tuesday & Friday), Glorious (Wednesday), and Luminous (Thursday). Each set contains five events from the lives of Jesus and Mary that we prayerfully contemplate while reciting the prayers.
How does the AI Prayer Guide work?
Our Prayer Guide is a private AI assistant that runs directly on your device. You share what's on your heart—whether joy, struggle, or gratitude—and it helps you craft a personalized prayer. Your words never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy for your spiritual reflection.
Can I share my candle on social media?
Yes! After lighting a candle, you'll have the option to share CandleFaith on social media platforms like Facebook, X (Twitter), and WhatsApp. Sharing helps spread the light of prayer and invites others to join our community.
What are the guidelines for prayer intentions?
We ask that intentions be respectful and appropriate. CandleFaith is a Catholic sanctuary, so we welcome prayers aligned with Christian values—prayers for healing, peace, guidance, thanksgiving, and the well-being of loved ones. We reserve the right to remove any content that is inappropriate or harmful.
How long do candles stay lit?
Candles on CandleFaith remain displayed on our prayer wall indefinitely as a testament to the prayers being offered. We believe that prayer has no expiration, and your intention will continue to be part of our community's prayerful support.
