St. Padre Pio, born Francesco Forgione, was an Italian Franciscan Capuchin friar who became famous for exhibiting stigmata for most of his life. He was known for his piety, charity, and the quality of his preaching. He is also known for his gift of reading souls in confession and bilocation. His life was marked by physical and moral suffering, but he remained dedicated to prayer and the service of others.
