St. Anthony of Padua was a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. Though he died at age 35, he was one of the most quickly canonized saints in church history. He was a powerful preacher and was known for his deep knowledge of scripture. Today, he is known as the patron saint of lost things and lost people, with countless miracles attributed to his intercession.
